You can't catch me!
On the 21st of August, my dad and I went to the Panmure Basin to build up our fitness and have and have some fun. We went to the Panmure Basin in the car. I was excited about going to the basin.
When my dad and I arrived there, we started walking straight away until w came across a narrow pathway. We were walking slowly at first then we picked up our speed and walked faster. . I skipped along the path while my dad was catching up to me calling out, "Wait up!" We jogged swiftly and quietly together. When we couldn't jog anymore we walked for a bit longer. Many people past with a warm smile saying, "Good Morning!"
However when we made it to the ills on the other side of the basin my dad and I ran quickly up the hills. We would have races with each other and my dad would always come first because he kept on nudging me. I ran all the way to the bridge . The height of the bridge was terrifying that I started feeling butterflies in my tummy. We ran all the way back to our car and we were both exhausted.
My dad and I were very proud of ourselves. After that we went to my grandma's house to stop by and say "Hi" to her. I had a big drink of water when I was there and it was very refreshing.
I had so much fun at the Panmure basin. I hope again soon and that I will be able to run the whole basin to build up my fitness and health.

We need to go to church now, are you ready?
On the 23rd of August 2015 my family and I went to church to pray and sing to the Lord like every Sunday. We went there by car and I was very excited about going to church.
As we were getting changed my dad kept asking us, "Are you ready yet?" Before long we were all ready to go and we were off to church. When we arrived outside the church, we told my mum and my brothers to go inside while my dad, sister and I go find a car-park that is close to the church building. After we found a car park, we walked to church. When we went inside, we looked for our family, soon we found them. First, we knelt down and said our prayers. I prayed for the poor, the sick and also for my family so that they can be happy. Then I said the Hail Mary prayer and Our Father. Then the introduction started and it was welcoming us to the twenty-second Sunday pf ordinary time followed by an entrance hymn.
After mass started, Father went to the altar and said Good Morning to all of us and the rest of the Congregation. He also called up the children's liturgy. After a while a man from the congregation read the first reading from Joshua. The story was about God, his love for us and the Eucharist. The responsorial psalm was "Taste and see the goodness of God" Meanwhile the second reading was read by a lady. The story was about husbands respecting their wives and treating them like women. Father read the Gospel. It was about Jesus and his disciples talking about the bread from heaven that was sent by God. Father talked about the second reading. He said that all husbands should not treat their wives like slaves, servants or chefs because once you get married you become one body.
After the Gospel reading we said the profession of our faith and I was thrilled because then it was time to say a prayer off by heart. Then the nice lady with a warm smile said the prayers of the faithful. She prayed for the poor, the sick and the people who are struggling in life. Next, Father blessed and broke the bread and the wine. Then it was time to go up and receive the bread and the wine. Then we said our personal prayers. When mass was about to end, we said the Adsumus prayer. "We are here before you, Holy Spirit!", we all said the prayer not only with our mouths but with our heart . I had butterflies in my stomach because I didn't want to say the wrong thing and mess up the prayer. After that church ended and we all went home.
My family and I were all starving so we went to get something to eat from the shops. We ate pancakes and drinks. Then we went home to have a rest and reflect on what we have learnt from church.
I had a splendid time at church. We sang, praised, prayed and worshiped God. It was wonderful. I felt like God was with me the whole time. I hope next time we go to church, we can spend even more time with God and have more songs to sing.

A draw is better than losing!
On the 12th of July we went to the Tamaki Recreation Center to play our third game of basketball. Launoa, Siu, R.J, Rhonda, Dhon, Shannon and Glen are all on my team. We all traveled in our own cars and some people car pooled together.
When my dad and I entered the gym, we found that the majority of people there were sitting rather than standing. I quickly got changed into my P.E gear. I started to feel butterflies build up in my stomach because the lights mysteriously turned off on its own.
Then we went onto the courts to warm up with our very talented coaches. Shawn and Nicola are both really good at shooting and dribbling.
The first warm up was to dribble the basketball 3 times on each hand, while our partners try to get it off us. Our second warm up was to line up in 3 lines. Either i
n the front, left or right of the hoop. The aim was to get the ball into the hoop then rotate to the next line. It was like our reading rotations that we have in Room 7 where we move to the next activity.

Finally it was time to play our game against Pt England School. When the game started we ran everywhere around the court defending. We were leading in the first half of our game. We ran, jogged, walked and stopped during our game.I was tired so Rhonda and I substituted with Shannon and Launoa. We cheered and clapped for both teams. St Patrick's school played like professional players, so I watched the game as if I were a Eagle eyeing its prey. I felt as if they had tricks up there selves and I wanted in on it.
After half time, I noticed that Pt. England was catching up. Miss Chao put me on court for the last half. I was hoping that that we could win the game. I tried my best to help out my team. The game ended with a draw, but I was still proud of my team.
Slowly people to leave the gym while other schools entered.
I had so much fun and I could not wait for the next game. I knew that with more training, I’m sure that next time we can win.

Ughh, this mountain is so hard to climb!
On the 3rd of August my cousin from Wellington came over to our house and we went to Mt. Wellington with my dad and sister. We traveled there in the car.
When we finally arrived at Mount Wellington, we walked up the hill. It was so tiring and long but we still made it up the narrow pathway. My cousin and I were staring at the gigantic and beautiful view while my sister was running up the long mountain. We kept on walking the whole way without stopping and sometimes I would even give my cousin a boost. She felt heavy but she's actually skinny.
Eventually we made it up the mountain but then my dad told us to run up the steep staircase that was extremely rocky. I ran fast as I could and it was exhausting for all of us. Next my cousin and I had a race up the mountain and we had a draw. While we were walking back to the car, my dad spotted a rope that was hanging on a tree and it had a huge hole at the bottom of it. My dad went on it and started swinging on it. We thought it was really funny so we started laughing.
After a while, it was time to go home and when we were driving down the hill, we saw some cows. The cows were enormous and so they were mooing loudly . When the cow said, "Moo" we would repeat what it would say like we were having a conversation with the lovely cows. We also took some photos with the cows and they were perfect shots. The photo had three of us and 3 of the cows in it.
When we arrived back home, we all had a rest . I was exhausted and so were the others. We all had a great, sweaty day. We all drank lots of water to cool us down.
I had so much fun with our visitor, my sister and my dad. I loved every single moment of that day and I hope my cousin will visit us again soon.

Let's go Saint Patrick's!
WALT: understand and use descriptive language.
Success criteria: I know I can do this when I use appropriate adverbs, verbs and adjectives in my writing.
On the 5th of August, the year 5 and 6 team of Saint Patrick's school had their second basketball game at the Tamaki recreation center Glen Innes. We traveled there by car and I was excited about playing basketball.
When we arrived at the gym we got changed. I was with Natalia and Rhonda. Then we went onto the courts to warm-up and practice some skills with Shaun and Nicola. First we had some balls and we had to run across to the wall and back to where we were while bouncing the ball with our right hand. When Shaun blows the whistle then we have to switch the ball to our left hand. We also had to steal the ball from other people. We had to dodge the court. Next we had a warm-up where we only had one ball and Panmure bridge had to try to defend the ball by throwing to their team-mate while Saint Patrick's School defended. After that, it was time for the game to begin.
The year 7 and 8 game started, we all cheered for them. I was so excited because I had a feeling that we were going to win. The year 7 and 8's played really well. They did better than the last game that they played. While we were watching the basketball game, Dhon, Rhonda and I were learning some Italian words. We learnt how to say good morning, goodbye and stop. It was very simple. Arrivederci as goodbye and ciao if you are close to the person. Busta is stop and Bonjourno is good-morning. The year 7 and 8's were winning but the game wasn't finished so we didn't know who was going to win.
After a while it was our turn to play on the court and we played against Glen Taylor. I was really eager to play because I was ready and warmed up because of the warm ups that we had. I felt happy and confident when the game started. I was hoping that would win and if not, that would be okay as well because we would play better than out last game. The siren rang and our game began. We were running right and left, back and forward. Dhon scored our first goal. We were leading at half time. I was playing well and so were the others. When we were tired I substituted and swapped with Rhonda. While I was resting I watched how the others were playing so I could learn from what they were doing, especially the way they have stealing the ball. I was incredibly impressed. I was about to go back on the court when I suddenly had butterflies in my stomach because of the way people were shouting at me! Some people were shouting at me like they were trying to say, "Pay attention and pull your socks up!" We won in the end.
We all huddled and said three cheers for Glen Taylor. "Hurry, Hurry" Next we went to shake Glen Taylor's hand and say good game to show the good act of Sportsmanship. Then we all went home feeling exhausted and excited for the next game. I drank lots of water and ate dinner.
I had so much fun at basketball and I hope next time we win our game again. I want to train as much as possible so we have a big chance of winning the next game.

Which church do you go to?
On Sunday 2nd of August 2015, my family went to church to listen, pray, and sing to God. We traveled to Panmure Parish by car. I was really excited about going to church and praise the Lord with the congregation.
When we arrived at the church, we were 15-20 minutes late. First we knelt down to say our personal and daily prayers. Then we got up to listen to the first reading. It was about Moses telling the people about God and him sending bread down to heaven. Then we sang a song that was about the reading. Next Father, read the bible that was about Jesus talking to his disciples about God and his kingdom in heaven.
After that, we said the Nicene creed and and we listened to the prayers of the faithful. Next we knelt down while Father blessed the bread and the wine. Then it was our turn to go up and receive the Eucharist. When everyone went up to receive the Eucharist, we said the Adsumus prayer. When mass finished we went home.
I learnt a lot from mass and I can't wait to attend church again. I hope we can sing more songs next time and praise to God to show our faith to God.
We are learning to use language features correctly in my writing.
I know this when I choose appropriate time words and maintain the past tense in my writing.
