Winter Learning Journey! Day 1: Activity 1 and 2!

Three interesting facts about the early people of New Zealand:

  • Over four hundred years ago, Christopher Columbus and Europe was concerned about falling off the edge of the world. The Maori people voyaged thousands of miles across the Pacific Ocean in small canoes. As the Maori people voyaged they became the very first inhabitants of New Zealand.
  • The New Zealand Europeans were also strong, brave and they knew how to handle things independently. The Europeans cleared lands which was also very hard and risk-taking jobs to do. By doing these jobs, they became very skilled and knew how to do multiple things without help.
  • For as long as New Zealand has been around, many tourists have been coming to visit our beautiful country. Kiwis have had a passion and learnt to love the nature and delight of the outdoors. They have taken notice of the beauty and excitement of our spectacular landscape. ____________________________________________________________________My five favourite activities from the video I watched:
  • Enjoy coffee at the Elliot stables
  • Walk along nearby Queen Street
  • Explore the city on the Hop on, Hop off bus
  • Visit the trendy shops and restaurants by Ponsonby
  • Enjoy and walk by the Mission Bay beach

  1. Kia ora Rosary,

Welcome to the Winter Learning Journey blogging programme. We are so excited that you have joined us this year!

It is clear that you've already completed a number of activities to a high standard. Well done!

Like you, I would really enjoy going to Elliott Stables to have a nice cup of coffee before going for a stroll up and down Queen Street. If I wasn't in a shopping mood I would probably go for a walk along Mission Bay beach and/or head out west to go walking along one of the beautiful west coast beaches. My favourite of the west coast beaches is Karekare. I suspect that you have already read about it as it's part of the activities for Day #2!

I hope that you have enjoyed the journey so far and learned interesting things along the way. It's wonderful to see that you've already made it to Day #4. Wow - I am going to head away right now to read through all of your posts. I can't wait!

Keep up the great work, Rosary. We are really happy to have you as part of our blogging team.

    Cheers,
    Rachel :)
