To keep the stranded whales, very helpful groups of people used big buckets of water to try to save the whales. By doing this, they kept the whales hydrated and not dry. Another group of people also placed towels on them which I think was another smart method to keep the whales alive and hydrated.
Activity two:
The movie, Whale Rider is about a girl named, Paikia who wants to be someone and fulfill something that she thinks and believes she can be but the people around her, like her Grandfather disapproves of what she believes in what she can be.
My Ratings on this movie: 4.5/5 I think that this movie should be recognised by more people especially children, so that they get the message of believing in yourself no matter what gender, race or colour you are because anything is possible.
Bonus Activity:
I think that fishing in the FareWell Spit areas should be banned because as a New Zealand citizen I think that killing dolphins is very cruel and selfish. If we let people fish in those areas our future generations won't be able to admire the beauty and magnificence of these wonderful creatures that we have in New Zealand.
Great work Rosary, reading what you are writing, I can hear that the learning we did about the Dolphins has increased your knowledge and understanding about caring for our environment.

ReplyDeleteI really appreciate the way you have written a wonderful summary about the whale rider movie. Thank you for sharing your talented piece of work.
Keep it up!
Talofa Rosary,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your summary about Day 4 activities. I enjoyed reading your review about the whales at Farewell spit. How did you feel learning about what happened to them? It was devastating to see the whales suffer. There were so many people who turned up to show their support. Unfortunately, some did not get to make it. So sad.
In your review about the Whale rider trailer, I see you found a connection with the movie which is great. I agree, this movie is so inspirational where some students can relate to Paikea's experiences. She showed how determined she was to follow her heart and desires. You have already shown that same passion through your Winter Learning Journey programme. How cool is that? You have been striving to complete the activities and I am so grateful to be apart of your learning Journey and respond to your posts.
Keep up the good work Rosary!
Goodluck,
Jacinta
