Manaiakalani Film Festival

On Wednesday the 12th of November we had  Manaiakalani Film festival at Sylvia park  hoyts cinemas. I was one of the presenter’s for our movie Magic Students. The Presenter’s had to go in Mrs Dines car Mrs Bullot’s  car. The other students went in a bus with the other teacher’s.

I felt nervous being a presenter especially because I had to remember my lines of by heart and that was the hardest part about presenting.

The first movie was It’s Not My Fault by Room 8 Saint Patrick's school. I felt amazed by the movie they made. My favorite movie was the Science Hunger Games because it was hilarious  I just couldn't stop laughing. I also liked the MKR movie by Tamaki college. It was a good movie. I enjoyed all the movies from the film festival especially our movie.

Dear Loving Father,

I thank you with all my heart that you made the right choices like healing me when I was sick. Who Has the Tallest Tower?

WALT problem solve as a group.

Today Mrs R gave us challenge. We had to build a tower with Newspaper and Tape. We had 5 minutes to discuss as a  group how to make the tower and 15minutes to make our tower-
The tower had to stand up for 30 seconds.

The tallest tower won.

The challenging thing was to make the paper strong enough  to stand by rolling the paper and making sure it is small, that is what makes it strong It was also hard because we had to try not to waste the tape.

If I would do this again I would make sure that we know what we are doing and give each person a job to do. I would also make sure that we all have the same idea and if we don't then we can discuss about it.

Culture Festival Night.

Culture Festival Night.

 On Wednesday night we had culture festival at the Saint Patrick's school hall at 6pm o clock. Many people went there like the students family and teachers and Father Michael. 

First the people who were dancing had to go to there groups and get ready until the bell rang. When we went to the hall it was decorated with lots of things on the stage. There was a sign that said Culture Festival. The first group to perform was the Maori group. They performed two times. I really liked there dance especially when the boys were dancing with the sticks


The Chinese group was the second to perform. They had a very nice dance. The  boys were wearing cool clothes. The girls had bells on their clothes that made the sound cool. I could tell they worked hard in their Practice. It was the Rarotongan group. The group was amazing because the girls were shaking there hips very hard which made the audience concentrate on their group. Then it was the break time.
I bought chips and drinks.

It was my group's turn to perform and I felt like it was my best dance I made. I was wearing a red top and a colorful skirt. The boy's were wearing a red shirt and jeans. I had fun and got really sweaty after the dance. We also got chocolate from Mrs Foden when we were going down form the stage. After our group was hip-pop group. They were Remarkable. The song they used for their dance was celebration with a mix of happy by Pharell Williams one of my favorite songs. They had some nice moves and amazing outfits. They were glowing and it looked really cool because it was dark. Next after hip-hop was the Samoan group. The Samoan Group was awesome because they had  nice and moves were done properly. They all looked nice. My sister was dancing beautifully and so was the rest. 

I had fun!

Duffy Assembly

Today Room 5 and the school went to the Duffy assembly in Room7. We met two boys that were brothers named Joshua and Cory.

First they told us a story about there Grandfather named Sua. It was about Sua hurting a man and moving to a place named Aoeteroa because if they find out who hurt the man they would take Sua to jail.

Then Joshua told us his speech that he told many people. The speech was called Brown Brother. The meaning of the speech was that no matter where you are from or who you are and what you wear but if you work hard you will achieve anything you want to do!

My favourite part of the show was the speech that Joshua told us.

Jesus And The Church

WALT describe the mission of Jesus and the Church.

I know this because:
Both Jesus and the Church have the same mission because they Love each other. Jesus loves people by inviting them into his teaching. The Church love’s others as how they  want to loved by other people they also love by sharing their things.  

Both Jesus and the Church have the same mission because they serve other people.

Jesus served others by the feeding of five thousand. The Church serves others by giving out Jesus’ body and blood the wine and the Eucharist.

Both Jesus and the Church have the same mission because they heal others. Jesus heals others by making the blind see,heal the leper,and make the deaf hear.  The Church heals when they see someone lonely and they invite them to their Church or community.  

Both Jesus and the Church’s mission is the same because they forgive. Jesus forgave people by forgiving his disciples and others. The church forgives by Confession and by saying “its alright” to others that say “sorry”

Needs And Wants

WALT explain the difference between a need and a want.

I this because a  need is when it is something that helps you survive like food and water.

A want is when you won't die if you don't have it.

We read the story a chair for my mother. 

The chair in the story a chair for my mother is a want because without it you will still be alive. It is also a want because they already have chairs at the place that they live at. The reason why I think it is a want is because a chair is something that is not that important to people. The chair is a want because the money could be wasted and there will be not enough  food and  water that will make them survive. I think that the chair is not a need because the chair cannot help people from sickness. A chair is not a need because they were fine without the chair with them.      

What Is Estimation?

WALT estimate and measure cm and m 

Estimate means take a guess. When we estimate we use information we already know and we try to guess an answer as close a possible to the correct measurement.

After we estimate we need to check to see if our estimation is correct.

To learn this we flew our planes.
My estimation was 17m and 29 cm
My plane actually flew 4m and 94cm
My estimation was wrong.

 

What did I learn In Rugby League

We are learning the skills of rugby league. 

Today in Rugby  League the coach taught us a bunch of skills. We learned how to side step which is when you are on the side and you are stepping to the other side. We also learned how to goose step which is when you are skipping and then do a side step after you skip. We also learned how to score a try which is when you are holding the ball with both hands and make the ball touch the ground if you make it fall its a knock on! Then we did a spin  which was when we run and then we spin around.
                I had a lot of fun!

WALT write a letter to the main character in the book.

To: The Main Character,

I wonder how you felt when you saw you that the pup was stuck in the trap that you were supposed to make for the animals you were catching? Did you feel Sad? Angry? Happy? or Surprised? I would not like to lose my pet if I had one. I would feel sad. I also wondered how many pigs and turkeys you caught , was it enough for the whanau? Did you feel great that you were going for your first hunt? I hope you had fun. Did you enjoy it? I did it was a fantastic book! If I went Hunting It would feel exciting and amazing to go there . My favourite part in the book was when you caught forty turkeys and I hope that happens to me when I go hunting.  You are a very lucky person and I wondered what it felt like to go hunting it looks really exciting.

Saturday Sleepover

Saturday SleepoverWALT to use our plan to make a recount. 

My cool, cute, cousin and absolutely, amazing aunt came to my house to have fun on a Saturday night for a sleepover. I was excited when I heard they were coming. Have you been to a sleepover before? They came for something important and then they ended up having a sleepover which was cool!

On Saturday My cousin and aunt came to my house. The first thing we did was draw. My cousin drew a picture of Elsa and she also colored her picture too. I drew a picture of me! “It didn't look like me  though”

Before long,  my sister, my cousin and I ate crackers with tuna on top it was yummy! Then we watched tv. We watched Anastasia: The movie. Then I went on the computer to play games like friv  and also watch videos with my cousin.

Before we went to sleep we watched Captain America The Winter Soldier. My favorite part in the movie was almost the whole movie because it was really funny and cool. I was very tired while I was watching the movie. Then we went to sleep.  

After the sleepover I felt relieved and I learnt how draw a cool picture of myself. I think that it was the best sleepover I have ever been to.

WOW! What Wonderful Wedding!

WOW! What wonderful wedding!!

Have you been to a wedding before? Last year it was my cousins wedding at church. We went there to pray and celebrate my cousins marriage. My family and other cousins came to the wedding too.

First we went to the church. My heart pumped of excitement and joy. We were praying and clapping for my cousin and her husband. I felt happy and glad. My cousin looked very, very, very, stunning and posh.

Joyfully we went to eat. We ate at a place that was right next to the church. My heart was pumping of craziness. We had to eat after my cousin and her husband came back from finishing taking pictures at a beach that was not far from the church. I was there too because I was the flower girl.

As time was ticking we were saying goodbye to our family. I was so, so, so, hypo after the wedding. My head was filled with happiness.

After the wedding I felt remarkable and also proud of my cousin. It was also sad because my cousins mum passed away from cancer so she wasn’t there for her. It was still the coolest day I remember because my cousins wedding was very, very, very fun!!!

Hydro power is water turned into or electricity 

Room 5 and I made a turbine first we used these following materials:

2  Paper plates 

Egg Cartons 

A pencil

A pair of scissors 

Tape or a staple 

The instructions that we followed to make the turbine was to punch a hole in the middle of the plate with a pencil, next we cut five individual cups from the egg carton and stick it onto the back of the paper plates with a stapler or tape, try use to use the stapler to make it strong. Next we stick the pencil into the plate. Then we tested it on a tap, it was going really fast.

Room 5's experiment

Room 5’s experiment.

WALT write a recount about the experiment we did on Monday.

On Monday the junior school children like Room1 and Room4 went to the teacher’s car park. It was a sunny day when we got there. We went there to build habitats for our experiment.

First the teacher’s were talking to us about the experiment we are doing they brought materials for us to feel like rocks, ice cream container, leaves, papers, cloth, a bucket, a rubber tile, and a wooden tile. I only felt two materials, a cloth and a rubber tile. The rubber tile felt smooth and the cloth felt soft.  

Next the teacher’s were setting up the materials. Then we had to pick which habitat would be best for the mini beast’s. I picked the leave’s for the mini beasts to live in. The habitats were behind the arts shed.

After that the teacher’s said that we had to wait for Friday to see the result of the habitats for the minibeasts. I felt really excited about it because the experiment was really awesome.

Finally we went to class and talked about what happened. Going to the carpark was a fun and a great idea, Room 5 and I felt happy.!

How To Make A Perfect Mum (Parent)

• Knife a very sharp knife

  Method- directions:

1. Slightly melt the  2 pounds of love into the pot that is on top of the stove and mix it with the wooden spoon.
2. Carefully pour the melted pounds of love into the large bowl and start stirring it while you add the teaspoon of coolness.
3. Slowly add the tablespoon of tough or strong with the 5 cups of care.
4. Quickly add the 4 cups of smartness or else a brain will pop out and also remember to put  1 teaspoon of strict so that you don’t want them to be too mean
5. Quietly pour the splash of funniness into a cup and shake it.
6. Then put the splash of funniness in the large bowl
7. After that add in the cup of rich, the teaspoon of famous and stir it carefully or else money with autographs on them will pop up.
8. Now grate the heart and the brain in the large bowl with some water and stir it quickly to make the mixture a soft dough
9. Slightly Get out your baking paper and put it on top of your large tray.
10. Carefully pour the dough into the large tray
11. Now make a shape of a person using the very sharp knife and make as big as a parent would look like and pop it in the oven .
12. Quickly put extensions on the dough and  put in a cold place for a week or more and there  you have your parent.

Method

1. Firstly pour the frog’s brain into the cauldron with the frog’s heart and stir it for 15 minutes.
2. Then you drop the potion  into the cauldron to make it magical but just a little drop so that it doesn't get too bubbly
3. Next you will pour the frog’s tongue in the cauldron using your gloves
4. Don’t forget to add it in the algae in and the mud.
5. After that put the mixture in the oven on 250 degrees preheat.
6. Now take the Mixture out and pour it in the big cup and it will look like coffee because of the potion.

Give the big cup of your mixture to your teacher and trick her to drink it.

Ahhhh! now our teacher is a TOAD!!!

A Magic Spell To Make Cinderella Go To The Ball.

A magical spell to make cinderella go to the Ball

What you will need for this magical spell is:

1. Juice from a lemon (Lemon juice)
2. Petals from a fire flower
3. An perfect tooth from an ogre
4. Six lumps of Coal
5. Two apples
6. Three mice
7. A ribbon from a princesses hair  

Method: What you will need to do.

1. Firstly mix the juice from a lemon and the fire flower petals together.
2. Next grate the coal and the ogre’s teeth to put it into the mixture
3. Cook the mixture over a hot flame for thirteen minutes
4. However add the eighteen legs from the spider and add the two apples
5. Finally sprinkle the mixture over the three mice to turn them into footmen and over the ribbon to make a ball gown.

Now there you have your beautiful Princess Cinderella.
