Make good decisions!
Rosary
The Lockells are very troubled! Dom is the eldest, he is very annoying! Whether he’s out in the public or behind the curtains of his house he is very cruel and mean to anyone he comes into contact with. He always runs around his house quickly breaking all the rules. He has bright blue eyes with messy brown hair that is almost as long as his sister’s hair. Casey Lockells younger than Dom and she is very rude. She butts in the conversations and talks back to her teacher and even her parents. Here is a story of how they learnt a very important lesson.
One sunny morning in Yandere middle school, the most troubled kids in the town, Casey and Dom were sitting in their classroom with their classmates, but something was missing. “Where’s Mrs. Arlo?" They were all curious of where their teacher had run off too.
Just about 12 minutes later, their teacher still didn’t appear. “The bell has already rung, maybe we should go back home!” Called out Casey. Everybody laughed and so did Dom but he thought he had a better idea. “Hey guys, let’s trash the class and tell Mrs Arlo that it was already messy, it’ll be fun”, Dom shouted. “YEA, LET’S DO IT!!” The whole class barked out as if they were mad dogs trying to wake up the whole neighborhood.
Everybody stood up and drew on the board, signing their names and tagging all around the walls. They were dancing up and down all around the classroom. People already brought their lunch in, not to eat it but they used it to play, food fight. They threw their yogurt cups and banana splits to each-other.
Everyone was so happy and wild. Suddenly they heard footsteps coming down the hallway. “Mrs. Arlo is here, get back to your seats!!” Shouted Casey. “Oh hey kids sorry I’m late, I was stuck in traf...” said Mrs. Arlo. “Room 9! Why is this room messy and I want an explanation now!!” Casey and Dominic tried to make up an excuse. “We were trying to clean it up but it was just too messy for us to finish it” said Casey in an innocent voice. “Don’t you dare lie to me, I am going to report to this to the principal and see the camera footage of this madness!” Someone decided to be a snitch so they shouted out, “Casey and Dom, told us to trash the class!” They said pointing directly to Casey and Dom. “Casey and Dominic Lockells thanks to you, your classmates and yourself will have to clean this whole classroom.”
They had to stayed inside with no play. They cleaned the whole class and after they had finished they had to write ‘sorry letters’ to the teacher. The whole class regretted what they had done and they now know what not to do when the teacher is late.
Both Casey and Dominic learnt an important lesson. They learnt that if they choose to make the wrong decisions they will have to suffer the consequences. Both of them, changed and learnt from their mistakes as they grew up.
Learning intention: We are learning to structure a story effectively to entertain our readers.
Success criteria: I know I can do this when I write paragraphs that are clearly sequenced that helps to develop the story line.

Wow, this house is huge!
On the 9th of April my family went to visit my cousin’s new 3 bedroom house. We went there in my mum’s big, silver 8 seater car. My cousin’s house was in Pakuranga and I was so eager to see my cousin’s new house. My aunties, uncles and cousins all went to see the new house.
When we all arrived at the house, it looked so beautiful from the outside because there was so many colourful flowers and the grass was cut very nicely. When we walked into the house the kitchen was so big and it had a whiteboard on the wall for reminders. My sister and I wrote, “Welcome to your new home!” We both signed our names on it. I went to the bathroom and the mirror had small bright light bulbs all around the frame. I felt like I was someone in the movies getting ready for a special event. My sister and cousins and I took photos with her phone.
Next I went to look in the bedrooms. The first bedroom was small but it had a huge cupboard in it to store for storing hanging clothes and jackets. I went to the second room and it was a bit bigger than the other room. It also had a cupboard as well and it was enormous. The last room was huge, it had two huge cupboards and it had so many windows with colorful, fabric curtains.
After a while all the adults gathered in the front to talk about my cousin’s 21st birthday. The children’s jobs were to keep my cousin away from the living room and make sure that she doesn’t hear what the adults are planning for her special birthday party in May. While we were in the room we took photos and looked at the photos that we took a long time ago in Hastings. We played hand games like “O pillar caterpillar” and “Slime yuck yuck”. I kept on mucking up the game in ‘Slime yuk yuk’ because the speed of the game was too fast for me to keep up with my sister. It was really fun playing games with my cousins and my sister.
Later on, when the adults had finished talking headed back home. We dropped off my other cousin and my aunty at their house too. While we were going back home we decided to stop at Pizza hut to get some pizza for us to eat some pizzas. We also had juice to quench our thirst. When we arrived at home we ate the spectacular pizza and we drank the apple juice that was delicious.
I had so much fun at my cousin’s new home and the pizza was delicious. My favourite part was playing with my cousins because it was a lot of fun playing hand games with them.

Rippa Rugby is so fun!
On Friday the 8th of April, Room 7 went to the big, green field to play Rippa Rugby for Kiwisport. When we arrived on the field, coach Hamish told us to put on the velcro belts and go into two teams.
We were in teams of 6 to 7 people. I was in the green team with Christian, Caleb, Lupe, Mana, Xavier and Akesa. We played a quick warm-up game. I almost scored a try but someone from the other team ripped one of my rippas off my belt so I had to pass the ball to someone else in my team. I was sad but I knew that I tried my best to score a try for my team.
Next our team had to practice passing the ball to each other. We formed a big circle and we had to pass the ball quickly. After a while, we played the same game again except it had different rules. The rules were that if your tag gets pulled off your belt, then you have to pass it backwards to another team-mate. When we played our second game of Rippa Rugby, I finally scored a try and I was so proud of myself!
I had so much fun at my second lesson of Rippa Rugby and my favourite part was scoring a try for my team and knowing that I tried my best in the game.
Learning intention: We are learning to write a recount.
Success criteria: I know I can do this when I follow the structure of a recount and write an introduction, followed by the activities and then a conclusion of my second Rippa Rugby session.

Mmm, this candy is delicious!
On the 3rd of April my family and I went to my Aunt’s house to celebrate my nephew’s first birthday. We went there in my dad’s big, grey van. We arrived there at 2:00pm and it took us around 57 minutes to get there because my aunt’s house is very far away from our place.
Next, we went to go eat some food. The kids had happy meals from McDonald and the adults had a barbecue with pork and other delicious food. I had to look after my nephews while they were eating because the adults were very busy. My cousin, Abigail and I had am happy meal each and we ate delicious fries, chicken nuggets and cheeseburgers. I had a cheeseburger with a smooth, golden bun that had a well cooked patty with melted cheese and green dill pickles. My cousin had chicken nuggets with sweet and sour sauce. The food was spectacular.
After we had digested, we decided to go and play outside. We played with a red round ball and we played passes with the ball. We passed the ball back and forth until we got bored, then we went inside to watch a movie. We watched the Lego Movie that was on channel 2. The movie was about a boy named Emmett and a girl named Wyldstyle that were trying to stop President Business from destroying Lego city. Fortunately Emmett and Wyldstyle saved the city and the residents in it.
After a while my cousin, my sister and I went to go and get some candy and dessert. We went to the table that had candies and the chocolate. There were pots of candies and marshmallows and my faviroute part was the chocolate fountain. The chocolate would drip down the stands slowly just like something from the movies. The candy was delicious but it made me feel sick afterwards because I think I had too much.
After finishing all the sweets, it was finally time to go back home. My cousin wanted a sleepover at my house so I asked my parents and they said, “YES!”. My cousin was so happy because he had always wanted to come over to our house.
I had so much fun at my aunt’s house celebrating my nephew’s birthday, my favourite part was eating the candy and dipping marshmallows into the chocolate fountain!

Wow, Rippa Rugby is so tiring!
On the 1st of April, Room 7 and I went to the field to play rippa rugby for Kiwisports. Hamish was our coach and he was from the Marist club. When we arrived there, we had velcro belts that we put around our waists. We also had to stick the rippas on the sides of our belts. We played a small game and the rules were that we have to try and take rippas off our classmates’ belts. When we have finished each round, the person who had the most rippas was the winner. I didn’t win any rounds but I tried my best. In the second round, I was getting very tired because I was running around so much. After a while, we played a friendly game of Rippa Rugby with a ball. We had to get into two teams and I was on the yellow team. I was so excited. During the game, I caught the ball but I didn’t move at all because I didn’t know how to play. Someone took the rippa off me and I had to pass the ball back to a teammate. After that, I started to get very exhausted and I wanted to stop running but I really wanted to get a try for my team. Finally I got a try and I was so happy! I had so much fun at our first rippa rugby session and my faviroute part was playing rippa rugby with my team.
Learning intention: We are learning to write a recount about Rippa Rugby.
Success criteria: I know I can do this when I use the correct structure of a recount that includes, the title, the orientation, the events and the conclusion.
