On the 16th of May we went to Mt. Albert school gymnasium at night time to play some games. We went to Mt. Albert in the car and I was really excited.

When we arrived at the gymnasium, our cousins, aunties and uncles were already playing volleyball. My sister and I went inside the gymnasium to say 'Hi' to my relatives. Next we went to see the cute babies who were with my one of my aunty's friend's daughter. My cousin came along to say 'Hi'. I was watching my relatives play volleyball. They were jumping up and down to hit the yellow and white striped ball. We then went to take my niece for a drink of water at the water fountain. I was running down the steep staircase and then, BANG! I was tumbling down the stairs like a ball rolling down a hill. My sister looked back and said, "Are you okay!" I replied, "Yes I am fine!" My cousin asked the same question. I was actually getting annoyed by the questions. We then went to the taps to have a drink and wash my knee because it was bleeding.

A while later I went to play with my sister on the black, yellow and green trampoline. My sister was first to play on the trampoline. Then it was my turn. Later on we ate some crackers and chocolate biscuits. The food was really nice. My cousin came to play and eat with us. Meanwhile we had a game of basketball. My 2 brothers, cousin and son of my aunty's friend were playing basketball including my sister. I was in the same team as my brother and sister. The other team was my other brother with my cousins. My cousin Faith fell down, BOOM! "Ouch" she said. We were worried so we asked, "Are you okay Faith!" Finally its time to go home. We said, "Goodbye!" to everyone especially my cousin because we barely see her.

I had so much fun! I hope that next time we will play more games with my cousins and relatives to spend more time with family.

A happy day with mum!

Mother’s day!
On the 10th of May it was Mother’s day so we decided to go to a lot of places. First we went to pray with the congregations the we went for a feed at KFC.

It was a cold day, we all got up tiredly and got dressed in our best clothes. Once we arrived we were late for mass. The church was packed obviously because it was Mother’s day. When we went inside the Filipino choir was singing. Our priest was Father Michael. The Gospel was about loving each other as God loves us. We then went to receive the Eucharist and say, “Peace be with you!” to each other. When church was almost finished we went up to the front to get some flowers to give to our mom. My mom was crying when we gave my mom the flowers. She looked like she was crying as if she got poked by the throne of the rose. She was crying but she was filled with joy. I gave her a hug and kiss. I really love mum.

After that we left the church. We went for a drive around and then we went to KFC for lunch with my mom. We had chicken, chips, gravy and coleslaw. A little while later we went shopping at Pak'nSave. We bought some cereal and snacks for lunch for school. We went home to go on the computer and do our homework. When I went inside the house I read a book and wrote a recount for school. I was about to give my mom her card but silly me I had misplaced the card. However I know that my mom loves me regardless.

Mother’s day was fun but if I had told my dad to take my mom somewhere nice for Mother’s day to celebrate we will have a good time as a family together.

Yay! We're going to play badminton!

On the 15th of May Room 7 played Badminton in the hall. We played Badminton as part of our Kiwi-sport sports programme. Room 7 had to walk in the cold drizzling rain.

When we arrived into the hall we were told by Miss Chao to take off our shoes and socks. The coach introduced himself, his name is Ben. The very first activity that we did was jogged across the hall and back again. Then we had to jog sideways facing the wall back and forth. It was very hard. Ben said, " the people who are coming first back are doing it wrong and the people who are coming in last are doing it right!" I was doing it wrong because I was one of the first ones back. We kept going until we warmed up. We had to go over again and again because everyone was doing it wrong.

The next thing we did was we grabbed a racket each and Ben taught us about it. We learnt the parts of the racket. There is a head, shaft and a grip. The racket is made of steel so if we hit someone with the racket and they will get hurt. We also learnt the two ways to hold the racket. The fore hand grip and the back hand grip. When we are holding the racket the fore hand grip, our knuckles have to be facing the ground and when we are holding racket the back hand grip, our knuckles should be facing up towards the ceiling.

Then we got the shuttles and hit them up and down to see how many hits we could hit without missing. My highest score was 7. We held the racket using the fore hand grip. We then did the same challenge but using the back hand grip. It was a lot easier than the first round as we've more practice. My highest score for the back hand was was 9. I thought that the back hand grip might be the way that I can always hold the racket when I am playing badminton.  After that there was a challenge for the whole class to to participate in. We all had to hit the shuttle up and down towards the ceiling. If we drop the shuttle we have to sit down. The challenge was extremely hard. The winners of the challenge was R.J and Aiden.

I had a lot of fun learning about badminton. I hope I can learn more about badminton and improve my skills hitting the shuttle next time.
